Data specialists have created a map with 3D models of buildings

City centre of Brno in 3D even without a cinema. Such a spectacle is made possible by a new function on Brno’s website called Buildings of Brno, which was created by our data specialists. It allows users to see a three-dimensional view of different floors and parts of buildings in the historic city centre, as well as their changes over time. In addition, the map shows the area of the building or its floors occupied by various facilities.

Over 600 metres long esplanade for pedestrians and cyclists, which will lead from Brno’s centre to the Svratka River. Such are the plans to transform the historic railway viaduct from the 19th century. It has been covered with stones under a railway rampart for over a hundred years. The city is planning to reveal it in connection with the construction of the new southern city district Trnitá and the relocation of the existing main train station.

Fifty. That is the number of requests to participate submitted from fifteen countries to the international design competition for the New Brno Main Train Station. A total of twelve teams of architects advanced to the first round of the competition. Three were invited directly, the other nine were selected by an expert panel. They will now start working on the design of the station building and adjacent public spaces. Among them are studios from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, the USA and the United Kingdom. On Monday, 16 November 2020, the participants of the competition were confirmed by the Brno City Council and the Railway Administration. The competition is organised by the Brno City Chief Architect‘s Office.
